September Sweetness!
We are here in September and it is so sweet! The children are becoming familiar with the classroom and their new teachers, and finding reason to laugh, create, sing, and play. Every day brings an opportunity to learn about school and each other in a conscientious and thoughtful manner.
There are 15 of us in the classroom, and we are learning each other's names and likes through a self-portrait activity that gives us a chance to answer questions about our favorite animal, colors, and favorite foods.
We also mixed colors with eye droppers and gelatin!

It's fun to learn that somebody likes the same rainbow colors! or spaghetti! or unicorns!
We are outdoors every day, and we savor every minute of it! There are moments at the beginning of the day for us to move and climb and run, and then we are outdoors in our "outdoor classroom" climbing and running, or on the playground testing the limits of our balance, or on a hike finding mushrooms in the grass.
We wrote our classroom "rules" after we talked about creating a happy and friendly space for each other....

We celebrated DOT DAY on September 15th. Dot Day is celebrated by adults and children for boosting courage so that our creative potential is released. We used it as a day to connect and collaborate by creating a huge dot paint circle. So MANY dots were painted! We also made our own dot pictures that began with a central DOT.
We read the book The Dot, about a child named Vashti who is at first reluctant to create art, but learns, from a simple dot, that they can be brave and let their inspiration guide them to create many types of dots!
Each and every corner of the classroom is becoming familiar to all-
and we are looking forward to our adventurous year!
